Past un-Folding

he work in this exhibition does talk about the past and how it has unfolded in my practise this past perhaps even the last two years. The Past un-Folding holds within a wistful thinking and a certain melancholy. A reflection on previous work which I don’t have access to for many reasons as I have quoted or written in one of the statements here in the gallery .

This thought or notion is similar or comparable to:

“ Looking through a timeframe , a window and glimpsing paintings of the past.

Paintings that I have known , painted;  passed , seen and viewed of a world that existed once or still continues , but now outside my own world , my world .

Fragments of something that are no longer mine or are to know. A dimension at once distant beyond reach and still to appear profoundly familiar In the last series I worked on and presented here “Knowing the un-Knowing”  the gaze of reflection I found has returned inwards to an inner stillness an unknowing . Quiet , but as always with cuts , disturbances , interruptions in the painterly surface layers , delving down deeper underneath the built up layers of paint .

Perhaps to be philosophical it is search into one’s subconscious and this reflection or some of that thought can be found in looking `; this feeling of uncertainty and self -reflection , a moment of stillness and observation..

Just as much in here is to the wish to yearn for a safe place as I tried before in the Quartet series .

“I wasted time , and now doth time waste me”.
